The Guanacaste coast line of Costa Rica is famous for its aquatic ecosystem . The many bays, reefs and caves of this region are a treasure chest for avid snorkeling.
Our 26' Grady White is available for full and ½ day trips for you to find and explore the many diving areas for your enjoyment. Within a minute walking distance from our Villa in Ocotal Bay you will find an excellent area for starting your adventure in the water. The bay is well sheltered from heavy surf and your adventure is all the more enjoyable because of the proximity of your villa to this area.
Golfing – Papagayo Golf & Country Club
The nearest and newest golf course in Costa Rica lies midway between the Liberia National Airport and Playas del Coco . Papagayo Golf Course and Country Club is a truly picturesque public course amid rolling hills and distant volcanoes. It has 335 acres of green grass and a bonus of magnificent panoramic views. This golf course will test the skills of all level of golfers from pro to beginner. It is very affordable and offers a free golf cart, cooler and ice with each rental. Rates are extremely affordable as is the rental of a full set of clubs. Warm up on their driving range and enjoy to 9 or 18 holes of golf. Sea Doo, Scooters, Sea Kayaks, Bicycle Rentals
La Rana Rentals is between Playas del Coco and Ocotal. They offer a large selection of various fun sport activities at reasonable rates. Rental can be by the hour or daily, your choice. Scoot around the various beaches to check out what is happening. Scoot along the ocean in Sea Doos or Sea Kayaks at your leisure, enjoying the sun and surf around you or the speed. If you have not been on one, there is an instructor that can teach you how to operate them.

Corobici River float -
Nothing extreme, as its name says it: just a float in slow moving waters enough to get an introduction to the world of rapids . We do the river trip first, then enjoy lunch at Rincon Corobici and conclude the tour at the Los Pumas Wildlife Refuge . Gear needed: river gear, hat, change of clothes & camera. 2 Person Minimum.
Monte Verde Cloud Forest -
The world famous cloud & rain forest presented by National Geographic is now open to the public. You will have the chance to hike up to the continental divide and observe the Gulf of Nicoya and the Northern Plains . Choose from Canopy Tour , Skywalk, Skytrek, or a hike through the Reserve. 3 persons minimum.

Sea Turtles -
See Pacific Ocean Leatherback Sea Turtles nesting (some of them weigh up to 800 pounds) on the beaches. This is an evening tour and is subject to space availability. Only in season and by reservation from November to February. 2 persons minimum.
Rincón de la Vieja National Park Tour -
Experience the Majestic Rincón of the Vieja Volcano. This is your chance to see bubbling mud pots, small geysers and minor volcanic activity up close and personal. An interesting hike with some geology. Includes lunch. Gear needed: slacks, walking shoes & camera. Full day, 2 persons minimum.
Four Wheeler Tour -
Come and explore the jungle of Costa Rica . This 2 hour tour will take you thru rivers and up mountains and end up at a cliff overlooking the ocean. Includes transportation to departure site. Gear Needed: shorts, sun block & closed shoes. |

Palo Verde National Park -
Recommended tour for those who want to catch a glimpse of the local wildlife. Palo Verde comprises dry forest , wetland and mangrove swamp , which is a perfect habitat for crocodiles , monkeys , iguanas , parrots and other exotic birds . The boat boards at a location called Ballena Port on the Tempisque River , which is the nearest access to the park and then a 2 hour boat tour. Gear needed: shorts, sandals, t-shirt & binoculars. 2 persons minimum. |

Los Inocentes Hacienda Tour
Be prepared for a different horse back riding experience. This is the best place to look for the exotic wildlife that only Costa Rica can offer. This ride through the jungle will revive your love of nature. Plan to see toucans , sloth's and wild parrots while you discover the plains of the Orosi Volcano . 2 persons minimum.
 
Buena Vista Canopy and Natural Spa Tour
This tour combines a variety of activities. The day will start with a 1.5 hour bus ride through northern Guanacaste to the Buenavista Property near the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. Next, you will see the rain forest from a different prospective on a high-wire canopy tour. After lunch, you will go for a quick horseback ride to the Mud Pots. Here you will have the chance to bask in a volcanic mud cover and a swim in natural thermal pools, surounded by nature. Gear needed: slacks, swimsuit & extra shirt. Water Slide also available. 8 hours, 2 persons minimum.

Scuba Diving
Divers come to Costa Rica For the incredible variety of tropical marine life and the thrill of swimming with big schools of big fish. Imagine being surrounded by a school of 200 hammerhead sharks or 50 manta rays! Docile white-tip sharks abound in Costa Rica's waters, along with black-tip, nurse and bull sharks. Many divers have been treated to the sight of a magnificent whale shark, often while diving close to shore.
Most of Costa Rica's dive shops are found on the Pacific side on the country. While the Caribbean coast offers some beautiful reefs that have not been fully explored, water visibility is highly vairable. On the Pacific coast, visibility ranges from 20 to 80 feet, and is usually around 60 feet. Water temperature ranges from 78 - 86 degrees from April to November and from 68 - 74 degrees from December to March.
Pacific hot spots include Cocos Island, 300 miles offshore. Catalina and Bat Islands in the Papagayo Gulf of the north Pacific, and Cano Island just off the south Pacific coast. Cocos Island, one of the world's top rated dive sites, is visited by specially fitted dive boats. In Papagayo Gulf, divers will find a fine selection of dive sites. In the rocky outcroppings near shore, they'll see an incredible diversity of marine life, including white-tip sharks, clown shrimp, seahorses, lots of eels, turtles, dolphins, manta rays and spotted eagle rays. About an hours boat ride from Playas del Coco at Bat Islands, they willl find bull sharks. These islands are best visited from April to November, before the famed Papagayo winds start to blow. Closer in, at Catalina Islands, divers will see lots of rays, inluding bat, eagle, enormous manta rays and schools of up to 10,000 cownose rays!
Costa Rica has well-equiped dive shops and dive boats, most offering Nitrox as well as compressed air, and many of them have rebreathers. Experienced diving instructors offer a wide variety of certification courses in both English and Spanish. With a fantastic diversity of tropical marine life, lots of big fish, warm waters, excellent visibility, first rate dive outfitters and luxurious accomodations, its' no wonder that Costa Rica is a world leader in dive vacations.
