About Costa Rica

  Costa Rica is a country of rain forests, cloud forests, plains, volcanoes, rivers and waterfalls and very friendly and polite people. It is hard to imagine a visit to this Central American Jewel that does not take advantage of the many activities that are available. There are 20 natural parks and 8 biological reserves within its territory of 19,652 square miles with the most biodiversity country of this world.
The country is a paradise for people who enjoy variety and its beauty in nature. Costa Rica has a rich variety of plants and animals. This country possesses the greatest density of species in the world with trees growing to heights of up to 30 meters. There are over 850 species of birds alone in Costa Rica . The Monteverde's Cloud Forest Reserve itself contains over 400 types of birds, over 220 species of

mammals; as well as more than 2,000 varieties of plant species; including 1,300 different types of orchids. Butterflies abound through out the country.

It is not just the vegetation and wild life that is so unique. The beaches of Costa Rica have different sands, from white sands, light golden, brown, to mix white, brown and black sands to the beautiful black volcanic sands. Each beach along the coast is different.

The ocean and lakes have mammals and an abundance of fish. That is why fishing in Costa Rica is such a popular sport. At specific times of the year you can whale watch from the coast or catch that sailfish you have been wanting. Costa Rica has it all.

Costa Ricans ( “ Ticos” or “Ticas” feminine ) are a very friendly, well educated, laid back, unhurried people. A favorite expression of theirs is “Pura Vida” which literally means pure life and that is how they live their life. It captures the pervading ideology of being calm and living in peace.

 
 
           

Close to two million visitors a year cannot be wrong. Costa Rica is a destination that should be high on your travel list. Direct commercial airline traffice increased, at last count there are forty two flights a week to Liberia Airport on the Pacific Coast, . It's a hot zone for nature and sports lovers alike. The greatest thing is, you don't need to speak Spanish. There is always someone that can speak enough English to understand you, at restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and grocery stores. But… bring a Spanish book with you just incase you go off the beaten trail. For the remote areas of Costa Rica you will need some understanding of Spanish to communicate.
